We have a request from a potential client for a course in Armenian. The course is no problem and we can have a translation. However, when I view the Armenian language pack Moodle just shows square boxes. See attached?
Armenian Language Learning Pack
As I see it, the language pack may not be installed properly, or has not been fully translated, or your system is not supporting the charset required. Check the charset first, then if that is OK, check the language pack. I would think that if you were to look here, in the Language Packs page, you are likely to find that only 37% of the pack has been translated, which would be the likely cause. Please recognize that all this is volunteer work, so takes time, and all contributions are welcome.
Language packs add additional display, help, and proofing tools to Microsoft 365. You can install additional language accessory packs after installing Microsoft 365. If a language accessory pack is described as having partial localization, some parts of Microsoft 365 may still display in the language of your copy of Microsoft 365.
If you're an administrator who has deployed a volume licensed version of Office 2016 to your users, you can download an ISO image of the language packs, language interface packs, and proofing tools from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC).
If the language accessory pack includes proofing tools for that language, its status appears as Proofing installed. If the status is Proofing available, click the link to install the proofing tools.
The following tables show the supported language packs for Windows desktop editions and Windows Server, and supported language interface packs (LIPs) for Windows desktop editions. LIPs are available for Windows desktop releases, but are not available for Windows Server. For more information, see Language packs.
The version of the language, LIP, or Feature on Demand must match the version number. For example, you can neither add a Windows 10 version 1809 LIP to Windows 10 version 1803 image, nor add a Windows Server 2019 language pack to Windows Server 2016.
The babel package not only makes it possible to typeset Spanish language text but also changes the language used to typeset elements; for example, instead of "abstract" and "Contents" the Spanish words "resumen" and "Índice" are used.
To ensure LaTeX can typeset your document you need to use fonts which have the character shapes required to typeset the language(s) being used. In addition, when using pdfLaTeX the fontenc package may still be required to ensure that input characters are correctly mapped to the appropriate output character shape (glyph) in the fonts being used:
The babel package presented in the introduction allows the use of characters from a range of languages and also translates some elements within the document. babel also automatically activates the appropriate hyphenation rules for the language you choose.
Change the language to the name of the language you need. You can see a list of the languages available in the babel package documentation, under section 1.27 Languages supported by babel with ldf files.
The program has a single subscription for all languages, which also includes offline activities and printables, as well as more resources and learning tips. You can also access the companion guides to each lesson for free for a visual representation of the language taught in the program.
All told, each course features around 500 basic words, 80 animated language-learning videos, 11 songs, 140 interactive online games, a talking picture dictionary and a downloadable activity book.
On top of the free daily lessons, there are 77 premium lessons, with a total of 400 words and 75 new phrases to learn. There are also weekly quizzes that still follow that gamified format. The app is ad-free so that you and your kids can simply focus on language learning.
Fun Easy Learn offers intuitive, easy-to-use language learning apps. These apps are designed for visual and/or auditory learners in general, but many of the images and features are particularly appealing to children.
In fact, for a while it was thought that kids must start learning in early childhood in order to become bilingual. After all, past age 18, learning grammar concepts in a new language becomes increasingly more difficult.
This begs the question: what is the optimal age for learning a language to fluency? Is it during infancy? Does the probability of reaching native-level proficiency significantly decrease if a kid only starts learning a second language as a teen?
Private classes are more flexible than Group classes. They are tailored to specific learning and scheduling needs. They can be useful if a student's language knowledge is uneven, if a more intensified study program is needed, or if privacy is a concern.
You may also want to get in touch with your heritage by learning some of the language that your ancestors spoke. Language is a particularly good bridge in this regard, as it can often be a guide to the ways in which different cultures express not only ideas, but emotions. By exposing you to every aspect of the human condition, language allows you to study the past, understand the present, and ponder the future.
These exciting classes are geared to get an early start on language learning while helping children enjoy and appreciate a different culture. This is the best time for them to learn a foreign language. The younger the learner, the better they are at mimicking new sounds and adopting pronunciation. The brain is open to new sounds and patterns in preadolescence.
Children who grow up learning about languages develop empathy for others and a curiosity for different cultures and ideas. They're better prepared to take their place in a global society. In later years, career opportunities increase for those with additional languages to offer.
Studies by Harvard University confirm that learning additional languages increases critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility of the mind in young children. Moreover, pupils who learn a foreign language outscore their non-foreign-language-learning peers in standardized verbal and math tests, indicating that learning additional language is a cognitive - and not just linguistic - activity. The brain, like any muscle, functions better with exercise. Learning a language involves memorizing rules and vocabulary, which helps strengthen that mental muscle.
